The goal of the TOEIC is to measure the English capacities of students or employees working in an international environment. It consists of 200 multiple choice questions checking the listening and reading skills of the candidates. Another version of this exam exists, measuring also the writing and speaking skills.
The competences are then graded on a scale from 10 to 990. This is the information that will be asked by recruiters, managers or educational institutions. The exam is paper-based and has always been done with a pencil, which somehow facilitates the automatic corrections. Given the fluctuations in the level of English of each individual, this grade is only valid for 2 years.
